The Audi was larger and heavier than its rival rally cars, and the development of this entirely new technology required time. However, once the design was perfected, the rally world witnessed something entirely new. At the 1981 Swedish Rally, the Audi Quattro claimed its first victory, capitalising on its immense traction advantage on snow and ice.
