Oak Leaves

Oak leaves, native to Europe, are used in the aquarium hobby as a natural way to improve fish health and water quality. As the leaves slowly break down, they release tannins and humic substances that soften water, lower pH, and provide mild antibacterial and antifungal protection. These natural processes help recreate the tannin-rich habitats many freshwater species are adapted to, reducing stress, enhancing disease resistance, and promoting a healthier, more balanced aquarium environment. Note: You will receive approximately 30 leaves! Adding dead leaves will result in the release of humic substances, which will lower the pH of the aquarium water, act as an antibacterial and antifungal agent, and also lower the heavy metal content of the water. It is widely accepted that it acts as a spawning trigger and can aid in the recovery of any fish damaged through stress or fighting. The leaves will naturally float, but most will sink within 24 hours or so. There are no rules for how much to add, so some CARE and an element of trial and error based on different leaf types is required.
