Mortal Kombat: Conquest is a 1998 live-action television series that serves as a prequel to the games. It follows the Great Kung Lao, who must train a new generation of warriors to defend Earthrealm from the evil Outworld emperor Shao Kahn. The Protagonists: After defeating the sorcerer Shang Tsung in the Mortal Kombat tournament, the Great Kung Lao (Paolo Montalban) is tasked by the thunder god Raiden with protecting Earthrealm. He is aided by two companions: Siro, a hot-headed former bodyguard, and Taja, a reformed thief. The Antagonists: Shao Kahn, the tyrannical ruler of Outworld, seeks to conquer Earthrealm. He is assisted by an imprisoned, vengeful Shang Tsung and various dark sorcerers and supernatural warriors. The Mission: Earthrealm's warriors must rely on their physical and mental strength to survive Shao Kahn's assassination attempts and magical plots while training to win the next tournament.
