Black Mass (Blu-ray)

Black Mass (2015) is a biographical crime drama directed by Scott Cooper that details the unholy alliance between the FBI and notorious Irish-American mobster James "Whitey" Bulger. Set in South Boston during the 1970s and 1980s, the film tracks how a deal meant to take down the Italian Mafia instead allowed Bulger to build a violent, unchecked criminal empire. The narrative begins when ambitious FBI Agent John Connolly returns to his hometown of South Boston. Connolly is determined to dismantle the Angiulo Brothers, a powerful rival Italian Mafia family invading local territory. To achieve this, Connolly approaches his childhood friend, Whitey Bulger, who leads the local Winter Hill Gang. Connolly pitches a deal: Bulger will act as a secret FBI informant, feeding them intelligence on the Italian mob. In exchange, the FBI will look the other way regarding Bulger’s own criminal activities.
