Located in Portugal's Douro Valley, Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is a winery with three centuries of history. Once owned by the Portuguese Royal House, the estate owes its name to a small chapel built in the 17th century, where riverboatmen would stop and make promises in exchange for protection. Today, the estate, which has belonged to various families over the centuries, is owned by the Almarin family, who, assisted by winemaker Jorge Alves, produce highly regarded local wines. Mirabilis Grande Reserva Branco is an authentic and refined white wine that fully reflects the character of the Douro and the tradition of this historic estate. The indigenous Gouveio and Viosinho grapes are harvested from 100-year-old vineyards. After harvest and vinification, the wine ages in concrete for 10 months. On the nose, the wine reveals a broad and fragrant aromatic profile, with notes of ripe white fruit and delicate spicy hints on a mineral undertone. On the palate, it is fresh and round, soft and elegant, with a creamy texture and a bright acidity that refreshes the palate and lingers on the persistent finish. It is the ideal wine with roast fish such as sea bass, shrimp risotto, and pan-fried scallops.
